ISS is launching its defensive Driving training using driving simulator on top of the theoretical and commentary modules combining all possible training features into one.
Driving simulators offer various advantages compared to real vehicles:
- Controllability
- Reproducibility
- Standardization of assessments
- Road layout can be manipulated
- Purpose-developed scenarios
- Special circumstances, such as night driving, snow and rain, can be practiced anytime.
- Evaluation participants under the exact same conditions.
- Possibility of encountering dangerous driving conditions without being physically at risk.
- Prepare trainees to handle unpredictable or safety-critical tasks that may be inappropriate to practice on the road, such as collision avoidance or risky driving
- Make it possible to study hazard anticipation and perception by exposing drivers to dangerous driving tasks
